FAQ

When are the courses held? Weekends. Basic courses are Friday through Sunday. Friday 6p-10p, Saturday and Sunday 7a-6p (except Brenham and Huntsville where they start at 8a on Saturday and Sunday). Experienced courses are usually on Sundays 7a-4p. See schedule page.

Do I need my own motorcycle? Motorcycles are provided for the Basic Course. We do not allow the use of personal motorcycles for the Basic Course. However, the Experienced Course requires the use of your own motorcycle. See ERC requirements.

Can I borrow a helmet and/or gloves? Yes, we have loaners available for the Basic Course. No special reservation is needed with the Basic Courses. With special arrangement, we can provide loaners for the Experienced Course as well.

What other gear do I need to take the course? See BRC and ERC requirements.

How much is the course? $195 for the Basic Course. $80 for the Experienced Course.

When can I pay? Payment is required at the time of registration to confirm the spot in the class. Without payment, your spot is not guaranteed. If for any reason, the course is cancelled or rescheduled by Training Wheels, you will be eligible for a refund of your payment.

Will this waive the licensing test at DPS? The Texas DPS may allow the waiver of the riding portion of their licensing test with a completion card from the Basic Course. The written test is still required for licensure. (Road test can only be waived with a completion card if someone is over 15 and has a current unrestricted class A, B or C license; road test can not be waived with a permit of any class. Driver License offices are not required to waive the road test and are able to use their judgment to have someone tested even if the person meets all the requirements. If someone only wants a class M license, they are still required to take the class C written test since that is the only test that includes Signs and Rules of the Road. The road test would not be waived in this situation since they would not have a class C license.)

What if I need to reschedule? Cancellation given with time for another student to take your place will allow us to use your fee for a future class. Otherwise, you may forfeit your payment.

What if I want a refund? Course payment is non-refundable. In cases of failure to complete the course for any reason, a refund will not be issued. Cancellation given with time for another student to take your place will allow us to use your fee for a future class.

If for any reason, the course is cancelled or rescheduled by Training Wheels, you will be eligible for a refund of your payment or use toward a future course.
